Who is Kering?
The headquarters of the group are located in what used to be the hospital Laennec.
“Ker” means home in Breton and “ing” refers to the international status of the brand and conveys the idea of movement. It is pronounced “caring” which brings to mind that the parent company takes care of its associates as well of the environment. Kering’s symbol is the owl, which reflects its visionary aspect.
Kering develops numerous couture brands: Calvin Klein, Bottega Venetta, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Brioni, Christopher Kane, McQ, Stella McCartney, Thomas Maier, Boucheron, Dodo, Girard-Perregaux, Pomellato, Qeelin, Ulysse Nardin. It promotes the jewels, leather goods, eyewear and clocks of these designers. Kering also has partnerships with sports labels -namely Puma, Volcom and Cobra.
What is inside the parent company?
Ever wondered what was inside a luxury group? Well me too! I had the chance to visit the headquarters of the group during the Parisian “journées du patrimoine” with my family. Let me take you inside Kering’s head office and guide you through its paths.
Kering is composed of several sections which are a combination of culture, fashion and architecture.
The group mainly displayed modern artworks. Subodh Gupta’s skull made of saucepans especially caught my eye.
Kering is also Balenciaga’s parent company. No surprise a collection of Balenciaga dresses was on display. Here are my favorites.
